Subject: Youth Writing Contest Deadline Extended

The deadline for submissions to the Ozark Writers League Youth Writing Contest for ages 12 – 18 has been extended to March 10, 2017. There is no entry fee.

Categories are:

#21 Fictional Short Story, 2000 word limit. Any topic.

#22 Poetry, any form. 26-line limit.

#23 Fan Fiction about your favorite fictional character. 2,000 word limit.

Rules: Only one entry per category. All entries must be unpublished and the original work of the writer. If your entry has appeared in a blog, website, or other electronic outlet, it is considered published and cannot be entered in this contest.

Double space entries, except poetry may be single-spaced. Use black ink on 8 ½ “x 11” white paper.

Attach a 3” x 5” index card with a paperclip to the top entry for each category you enter. Write the number and name of the category, title of entry, and your name, address, phone, email, current grade, and what school attending or homeschooled.

Do not write your name on any other part of the entry. Do not fold or staple the manuscript.

Mail two copies of each entry in a large flat envelope postmarked by March 10, 2017 to:

Winners will be announced in April and checks and certificates will be mailed.

The Ozarks Writers League is composed of writers, photographers, and artists, novice to experts, who meet four times a year in Branson, Mo. to inspire, encourage, and share ideas. Speakers at the quarterly conferences have included agents, publishers, and best-selling authors.
