The eighth session of area World War II veterans was held in July, sharing memories of their war-time experiences at the Cape Girardeau Public Library. Dr. Frank Nickell, retired history professor, questioned each participant with Brenda Schloss, graduate assistant, filming as we went along. These records will be kept at the local university library and at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. Catherine Allison organized the event with help of friend Shirley Young. Shown are, from left, Robert Duckworth, Frank Nickell and Charles Mitchell. We are eager to reach all WW II veterans who have war-time experiences they would like to tell. We appreciate them so much and want their story to be known. If you are interested in telling your story, call Catherine Allison at (573) 335-0547.
