Watch for the tent Saturday Morning! There will be an opening concert Saturday April 25th morning 10:30am outside at 538 Independence St. Cape River Heritage Museum.. Jerry Ford and his Orchestra will be kicking off the seasons 8 Free music events scheduled the last Saturday of every month.
Jerry and his musical friends are graciously donating their time and talents to showcase our musuem and many community organizations.
The CRHM has many new exhibits this year, plans are to keep the exhibits ever changing. New this year will be
Jerry Fords' 50 Years of music anniversary, 100th Anniversary of the Cape Girardeau Fire Department May 2, 10-3pm, May 8th reception to open the 70th Anniversary of the Sharecroppers Demonstration and Louis Houck Exhbit. We have a special collecter featured Mrs Dorothy Miles exhibit. We are featuring an expanded gift shop that will have items made in Missouri by artists and authors for sale. The are many newly relocated and redesigned exhibits include Marie Watkins Oliver & our State Flagg, Missouri Mules and tales of other intersting people. Very unique artifacts representing native American Indians includes self guided tour of the exhibit. The 1950's Firetruck will be surrounded by memorabllia, photos,historic gear is located in the Mulkey-Thompson room and plans are underway to include audio/video to bring this exhbit to life.
The Fire Station No 1 is also 100years old this year.
Thanks to the SEMO Historic Preservation Students we have an new brochure that is a self guided tour of the building with many intersting facts and photos.
Newly revised mission Statement reflects there will be ever changing exhibits, educational programs, special tours, community and social events that are open to families, school groups, organizations , tour groups and the general Public.
The last Saturday of the month at 10:30 am will be a free music concert April- Nov. Thats right 8 free concerts!

May 19th - Sept. 6th open Tues-Sat. noon-6pm , Fri. noon- 7pm, Sun. 1-4pm
