Blodgett's top challenge is dealing with change. Our town has experienced positive growth and we're attracting solid hard working families, but we will soon have to invest in key infrastructure improvements we need to keep this a wonderful place to raise children and enjoy life as a family. Sewers, sidewalks, walking trails, trash service, and local police services are things that will make life enjoyable for all our residents and improve safety for our children.
Blodgett needs to do a better job of communicating the top issues and needs of our village to all residents. I want to make sure all voters have a better understanding regarding the operating budget and give their input on what the priorities should be. I hope to change our designation from a village to a city, so that we can receive more grant money for services such as police and make infrastructure improvements.
Owning a business with 40+ employees for the last 30 years will provide me with the experience to help manage Blodgett's employees and budget. My businesses have also been associated with the construction industry. That knowledge will allow me to ensure any infrastructure improvements we make are properly built at an affordable price. Also, my familiarity working with government agencies will help us negotiate with MoDNR, MoDot, as well as our state and county officials.
