The City of Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department is putting together a program that your kids will love no matter what kind of sport they enjoy. This February come to the Shawnee Park Center to check out he Ultimate Sport Showcase.
Most sports programs focus on one game and stick with it, but what if your child doesn't know what sport they want to learn? What if they like a sport that isn't typically offered in a program or at their school? Well at the Ultimate Sport Showcase all games are given a chance. When you sign up for the Showcase your child will be able to learn the fundamentals of and even play baseball, dodgeball, volleyball, basketball, kickball, and any other sport that they show an interest in.
Recreation Coordinator Chris Eastridge says that in the Showcase kids will play a variety of sports that are popular in gym class and various other games that are fun but not competitive.
"This will be a class with fun sports without the competitive aspects of team sports," says Eastridge, "Just an opportunity for kids to begin exercising and building new friendships."
To be a part of the Showcase your child must be 5-9 years old. The deadline for registration is Feb. 10 and the program begins on Tuesday Feb. 14 at 6 p.m., continuing every Tuesday through March 6. The cost is just $25 forCape Girardeau residents and $30 for non-residents. Feel free to call 573-339-6340 for more information.
