On Saturday, March 8, Relay for Life "Team Mabuce: Got Hope" raised $800 through its first ever Trivia Night. Relay for Life funds benefit the American Cancer Society and help to fight cancer of all types. Five teams competed in the 10-round, 100-question competition, which included questions about cancer. The "Steamboat Willies" team took top honors in the trivia competition.
Money was raised through the price of admission, as well as a 50-50 drawing and a Silent Auction. Several area individuals and businesses donated items and gift cards for the silent auction and prizes for the winning team. Plans are already underway for a second Trivia Night in February 2015.
Relay for Life will be held this year on Saturday June 14th at Arena Park, when a series of special events are planned to honor survivors, to memorialize those who have lost the battle with cancer, and to continue fundraising efforts. Many Relay teams will hold fundraising events over the next few months and will participate in the Relay for Life event in June.
