How polluted do you think the air actually is? 92% of people worldwide live in an area with unsafe air. We are a group of students from Central Junior High School in Cape Girardeau, MO, who are competing in the Lexus Eco-Challenge with the intention of spreading awareness about air pollution. Our goal is to educate the public on this emerging issue and to persuade people to stop polluting our air by reducing the use of fossil fuels. Another objective of ours is to reduce greenhouse gases in order to help prevent climate change and air pollution. Since burning fossil fuels is one of the main pollutants in our air, we figured getting the word out would be a good way to lessen the amount of pollution being created.

Despite how much air pollution is in the world, there are many simple ways to help reduce it. For starters, just by making more environmentally conscious decisions, such as carpooling to work instead of driving two or more separate cars, can make a huge impact. Another way would be to keep more plants in your house because they can filter air pollution. Plastic products should not be burned as they release deadly toxins into the air. If you are serious about the issue and really want to commit to helping the environment, then you might consider switching to an electric vehicle.
