A local chapter of The Arc is forming in Southeast Missouri. The Arc of Southeast Missouri is in the process of affiliating with The Arc of the United States, which is the largest community based organization of and for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The group's vision is "that every individual and family affected by intellectual disability in the United States has access to the information, advocacy, and skills they need to participate as active citizens of our democracy and active members of their community. The Arc of Southeast Missouri will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Cape Girardeau Public Library. All individuals interested in the organization's efforts are invited and encouraged to attend.
