The Jackson Kiwanis Club unveiled its "Teetering for Tots" project at the July 4th Centennial Celebration in Jackson Park. Teen Challenge of Mid America crafted and donated a beautiful wooden Teeter-Totter that was used to draw attention to the Kiwanis International project, The Eliminate Project. The Eliminate Project is a world-wide health initiative in partnership with UNICEF to ELIMINATE maternal and neonatal tetanus from every country in the world. This deadly but preventable disease steals the lives of nearly 60,000 innocent babies and a significant number of women each year. For additional information about The Eliminate project go to www.theeliminateproject.org.
While tots teetered, parents were introduced to the project and invited to support expectant mothers and their unborn babies by donating to the project. Funds donated on that day protected/saved 80 mothers and their babies.
Sponsors for the day were Nearly Perfect Crossfit, Teen Challenge of Mid-America, Brown and Thomas CPA's, and KGMO radio.
The Teeter Totter will be available at other locations in the near future to spread the word and receive donations. If you are interested in being a sponsor contact Susan Jespersen at 573-683-0515 or sdjespersen@sbcglobal.net.
