Center for the Arts plans Juried art show for high school students.
The Center of The Arts is hosting a juried art show for interested high school students within a 60-mile radius of Ste. Genevieve.
As part of its efforts to build the arts scene in Ste. Genevieve, the Center for the Arts hopes to encourage students to explore their interest in the arts.
The high school art contest is open to any high school student attending the public or private high schools within a 60-mile radius of Ste. Genevieve. Home schooled students ages 14 to 18 also are eligible. In keeping with the Center's goals of promoting artistic expression in a broad range of mediums, the contest will feature many artistic categories. All forms of painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, graphics and digital art will be eligible to enter. There is no fee to enter.
The students can sell their entries to the public if they desire. The center will waive it's normal commission, so all proceeds for any sale go to the artist
The art show is planned for May 2009 and all art needs to be submitted at the Center For The Arts by Saturday April 25th.
Students can enter up two pieces each, and all art entered will be on display during the month of May at The Center For The Arts. The judges for the juried contest are professional working artists.
Awards
Prizes will be given out to one artist judged Best of Show, as well as to winners in each artistic category. All winners will have their artwork posted on the Center's web page (www.stegenarts.wordpress.com) for the duration of the show, as well.
The Center welcomes any merchant or private individual who would like to donate to the prizes. All donations will be used exclusively for art contest prizes. Any gift certificate or help of any kind is greatly appreciated. To donate to the student art contest, contact Diane Wilson at 573-880-2026 or by e-mail at stegenarts@gmail.com.
