Youth participants were from Scott, Stoddard, Cape, Bollinger and Perry Counties. The youth were recognized for obtaining a GED, High School Diploma, completing at least 10 hours of a Work Readiness Credential Class, 90 days of employment, raising literacy and numeracy scores, and no longer being Basic Skills Deficient. The youth received certificates for their accomplishments. Youth Chairperson of the Workforce Investment Board, Jane Ellen Lazenby presented the awards.

Youth served by the WIA program have overcome significant barriers to achieve success. For some youth, this recognition is a first. Many local businesses showed support of the WIA youth program by generously donating the many attendance prizes awarded throughout the evening.
