SPECIAL OLYMPICS MISSOURI YOUNG ATHLETES
KICK OFF EVENT

Who: Families with children ages 3-7 years old with intellectual disabilities interested in learning about the Special Olympics Young Athletes program
Where: Osage Centre in Cape Girardeau
When: Wednesday August 10th, 2011 from 6:00-7:15 PM
Cost: FREE
This event will involve activity stations that will work on motor skills and other areas and put a smile on your child's face. Parents will be able to receive information about this program set to start in the fall.

The Young Athletes program is designed to introduce families to the world of sports prior to Special Olympics eligibility at age 8. The goals of the program include:
Engage children with intellectual disabilities through developmentally appropriate play activities designed to foster physical, cognitive, and social development
Welcome family members of children with intellectual disabilities to the Special Olympics network of support
Raise awareness about the abilities of children with intellectual disabilities through inclusive peer participation, demonstrations and other events
