Each year, the Southeast Mission Team, which includes United Methodist Churches and Sargent's Chapel (ELCA), sends a work team to Henderson Settlement in Southeast Kentucky, on the Kentucky/Tennessee border. Over the years, we have worked on homes building porches, adding rooms, painting, and assisting with basic home repairs. Most recently we have worked on the Frakes campus where we got the medical center repaired, cleaned up, sanitized and running once again after several years of being closed. We have also put up siding on a dormitory that had been damaged by hail. We built a new porch for the Administration Building. Sewing, sorting clothes, working in the thrift shop, working in the greenhouse, cutting coupons, etc. are all part of the tasks that we complete during our week at Henderson. The area we serve is in the bottom 10% of the country in terms of poverty. We are asking for your prayers, your support, and participation. We are also asking for volunteers. It is a week of fun, fellowship, prayer, and service. If you are interested in going with us on the mission trip, please contact Anita or Jeff Hahs at (573) 266-3523. The team is going April.
We also need your support for the trip. On Tuesday, February 17, 2015, from 11 AM to 9 PM, the Gordonville Grill is donating 10% of its sales to the Southeast District Mission Team and their work at Henderson Settlement in Frakes, KY. The 10% includes food and drink ordered in, carried out, catering, and gift cards purchased on this date. Please join us for lunch or dinner or an afternoon snack or evening pick me up. Learn more about our trip! Sign up for it if you wish! The food is great! The people are friendly! We appreciate your support!
