There is a rising flame haired song bird on the country music scene with ties to Cape. Her name is simply Maurryn. At only thirteen years of age she has already graced the stages of Disney, Opryland Gaylord Hotel, Six Flags, and has had her own set at the Delta Fair and Music Festival in Memphis TN for a couple of years now. " I love to create " says the eighth grader. It may be in the blood. Her father, John Bingham , is a local tattoo artist right here in our city. Maurryn has spent summers here with her father as well as with her aunt and uncle , Roger and Rosalea Algood. Though if you ask Maurryn she most closely resembles her aunt , Deidre Ruebel, who plays and sings as well. " I think growing up around creative people helped to influence me. I never thought that it was odd to write a song." Coming from a large family helps keep her grounded." Im a small town girl from Mississippi who has four brothers and sisters.I feel blessed to have a family that supports me so completely." She has close to two hundred lyrics under her belt at this point in her young life. Most recently she teamed up with another artist RT Rinehart and it has been greatly beneficial. The two just started promoting the first of three songs they have written as a duo. "Tearing Down Wonderland " has remained on the local charts on reverb nation at number one for two months. " Any part of me left in you" is the teams second release which is quickly rising. This summer Maurryn is headed back to Nashville to the songwritters festival. Looking ahead a full ep release seems to be the only logical step. Wonderland is already getting airplay on select radio stations. This young lady is a talent and determined to make her own kind of music.
