This holiday season, Slumberland Furniture is working to provide families in need with new beds through its annual Making Homes for the Holidays program. On December 14, Slumberland donated approximately 20 mattress and box spring sets, frames, sheets, and quilts to nonprofit partners throughout the community it serves, including Love Inc., among others, who distributed them to families in need.
The Making Homes for the Holidays program began in 1993. Since then, Slumberland has donated more than 20,000 new mattresses and box springs to deserving families. Slumberland stores also donated quilts donated from its store employees.
"For far too many children, a warm bed has become a luxury, especially in today's tough economic environment. With Making Homes for the Holidays, Slumberland is working to ensure that everyone in our communities gets a healthy night's sleep," said Jack Ford, Slumberland's owner.
The beds were loaded for delivery to area families on December 14, starting at 8:30 a.m. at the Slumberland loading dock at 1809 N. Kingshighway.
