Chaplain Terry Wildman, President of The Shelter of Hope Inc. reports The Shelter of Hope will soon begin construction at their 320 South Sprigg St. location. The building, which was once a pool hall, was given to Shelter of Hope Inc. for one year rent free by Alliance Bank of Cape Girardeau.

Demolition of the inside of the building has already begun and clean up is in progress. J & R Construction will be the general contractor and Tex Electric will provide electrical work; both have donated their time and labor.

"We have been working hard to secure the finances to begin this project and it is finally coming together," said Wildman. Although all the funds needed have not been acquired The Shelter of Hope board of directors has decided to begin under the supervision of Craig Bohnsack, Alliance Bank Assistant Bank Vice President and a board member of The Shelter of Hope Inc.

"We will soon purchase building materials and our contractor will start putting up walls. This begins our second phase of development," said Chaplain David McNeely Vice President of The Shelter of Hope.

According to Wildman Alliance Bank has assured him and the board of directors of The Shelter of Hope Inc. that negotiations will take place offering The Shelter of Hope the building permanently at the end of the one year free lease. "If it were not for Alliance Bank stepping in we would not be where we are today, and they have said the offer to get the building permanently will be an offer we won't want to refuse," said McNeely.

"We have so many people to thank, churches, organizations and businesses who have contributed to this effort. It is amazing to see it all fall into place, God has been good to us and now we see the end of this race," said Wildman.
