Nine athletes swimming for the SEAL Swim Team will represent Southeast Missouri at the Ozark Conference Long Course Championships on July 29, 30 and 31, 2011. The annual conference championship swim meet will be held in Carbondale, IL and will also be attended by several teams from St. Louis and southern Illinois.
Pictured above are the swimmers that qualified for the championships. This year's qualifiers include Alec Domjan, Jordan Gramling, Connor McGinnis, Dustin Parsons, Zach Smith, Ian Cameron, Madison Heisserer, Megan Peters and Caleb Cornelius. These swimmers are from the cities of Jackson and Cape Girardeau and are members of USA Swimming which is a national organization of swimmers.
The SEAL Swim Team is a year round competitive swim team registered with USA Swimming which is a national organization of swimmers. They train at the Southeast Missouri State University Aquatic Center. The team will be hosting try outs by appointment year round, but encourage anyone interested in beginning the sport of swimming to do so by the end of August 2011. Anyone, ages 6 to 18, is welcome to try out for the team and will be placed in age groups appropriate for their age and level of ability. No previous swimming experience is necessary other than basic water safety. Dick Taylor, a 25 year veteran coach in USA swimming, is the head coach for the SEAL Swim Team.
