On the evening of Thursday, March 18, a group of Scott City High School students attended the program "Navigating the Hemispheres of Neuroscience" presented by Scott R. Gibbs, MD, FACS and hosted by Southeast Missouri Hospital. The students were treated to dinner while enjoying the presentation by Dr. Gibbs in which he introduced students to the field of neurology while sharing personal stories of his experiences as a student growing up in St. Louis and his career as a neurologist in the Cape Girardeau region. Students were also able to tour the treatment area for Stereotactic Radiosurgery on brain tumors as well as an operating suite where they were able to see a presentation of Image Guided Neurosurgery. Participants left with a new respect for the neurosciences as well as for Dr. Gibbs for volunteering his time and knowledge of the field.
