RIVER CITY AQUATICS KICKS OFF INAGURAL SUMMER LEAGUE SEASON
New Team Bonds Through Service and Socials
(Cape Girardeau, Missouri) River City Aquatics (RCA) kicked off their inaugural summer league season with a series of events in the Cape Girardeau area. Swimmers and their families spent a day sprucing up Cape Splash, held a picnic at Capaha Park, and began practice last week at the City of Cape Girardeau Municipal Pool.
At Cape Splash, the team moved furniture, and spruced up planting beds. Swimmers also contributed to the large project of cleaning up the park, to ready it for opening day. RCA Swim Team Member Kailey Bell has already had the chance to enjoy the work that was completed. "I visited the water park last week, and it was neat to see the flowers we planted in the landscape beds. They look even better with the park full of people. I notice a team of people planted flowers at our practice pool, the Bubble, and they look great as well. I think we have a multi talented swim team with a few green thumbs!"
The Family picnic provided the team an opportunity to socialize before practice begins. RCA swimmers met the coaches, played water balloon volleyball, and enjoyed a potluck dinner. The River City Aquatics social committee hosts a number of activities for the swimmers to socialize outside of the pool throughout the year.
Practice kicked off last week at the Municipal Pool. Swimmers are preparing for their first meet on June 1st, when the team travels to Paducah, Kentucky to take on the Paducah Swim team. RCA Pre-team swimmers also took to the pool last week. RCA's pre-team program offers an opportunity for younger swimmers to learn to swim alongside the competitive team.
River City Aquatics, is a parent owned USA Swimming Team, and also fields an AAU Summer League Team. The team roster currently has over 200 swimmers from the region. Head Coach Jordan Kuper oversees a large coaching staff. Registration is open year round.
