As part of the statewide Methodist SERVE2013 Projects, Maple United Methodist Church will host a Red Cross Blood Drive Friday, September 6, from 2 to 6 p.m. in the church fellowship hall, on the corner of Cape Rock and Jean Ann Drive. The public is encouraged to come and give blood to help alleviate a dire shortage in the blood supply, according to Red Cross officials. Refreshments will be provided.

Other SERVE2013 projects the Maple congregation will take part in this weekend include filling backpacks for SEMO Food Bank's Backpack program for students at the Osage Center on Friday morning at 9 a.m. and on Saturday morning, they will repair and replenish gardens at Jefferson School in addition to collecting school supplies for the students. Also on Saturday morning, from 8:30 to noon, the youth of the church will hold a car wash at the fellowship hall with donations going to "No More Malaria, to help stop malaria in Africa and South America. Anyone interested in helping with any of these projects may call the church office at 335-6890 to register.
