In what's shaping up to be the party of the year, Promise to Burn has reunited to end the summer of 2012 with a bang. The Venue is known for packing the house with popular acts such as Pauly Shore, Dr. Zhivegas, and That 80's Band; but this August 18, the 2nd Annual Blast from the Past with Promise to Burn featuring 80's legends Blind Lion looks to be the biggest event yet.

Promise to Burn was once one of Missouri's popular modern rock bands. The band is comprised of two sets of brothers, Ben and Luke Sample and Derek and Damon Pearson, and vocalist, Heath Hartwell; all Southeast Missourians.

The local favorites have experience performing in countless regional shows as well as headlining the world-famous Viper Room and the Plush Lounge in Los Angeles, as well as headlining 12th & Porter in Nashville and were a part of the 2009 Whitesnake tour with Ratt. The group has gathered various media attention in the Midwest by regional newspapers, radio stations, and television news programs. The group has also warranted national attention when they had a rehearsal and interview filmed for Fox's American Idol program in 2006 after lead singer, Heath Hartwell, made it to the late rounds in his first attempt to be the next American Idol. Hartwell was also featured in Nashville Star in 2008 where he made it into the later rounds as well.

Promise to Burn have proved to have the talent, sense of humor, and know-how to throw a party to be the talk of the water cooler come Monday yet are often overshadowed by their 80's alter-ego band Blind Lion. The band that claims to have originated in 1983 looks like the illegitimate children of Bon Jovi and Motley Crue with their throwback hair styles and zebra pants. The tunes of Poison, Def Leppard, and Van Halen are just a few that they have in store for the party.

With over 500 tickets to the show already sold, the 2nd Annual Blast from the Past at The Venue (80 S Plaza Way, Cape Girardeau (573) 651-6681) is a night you won't want to miss. Eighties attire is encouraged and rewarded with prizes.
