Perryville Elementary School will celebrate Music In Our Schools Month in March with a variety of activities. Music Lasts a Lifetime is the theme for Music in Our Schools Month 2012.
"Music plays an important part in everyone's life," said Janet Seibel, music instructor at Perryville Elementary School. "Music is for everyone -- young and old. Music is an activity you can enjoy your entire life."
Marsha Bartley, also a music instructor at PES, added, "In school, we encourage our students to be involved in music through singing, moving, playing instruments, creating, listening, exploring and reading.
"We expose our students to composers and their music, multi-cultural experiences/ instruments, and the opportunity to perform in a group setting. By studying music and having these musical experiences, a student's character is strengthened and the student becomes aware of how music is a part of their lives. Hopefully, students can take away an idea they can use later in life."
