Perryville Elementary School is ushering in the much-anticipated spring season with a giant party!
PES will hold its fourth annual Craft Fair & Car Show hosted by Parents Involved in Education (PIE), on Saturday, March 15. The craft fair will feature over 30 vendors and the car show will include emergency vehicles, Air Evac helicopter, antique roadsters plus emergency vehicles like patrol cars and ambulances. Local dealers will also have demo cars on site. The car show will be held on the PES parking lot and begins at 10 am. Admission to the car show is free.
The craft fair is open 9 am to 2 pm and will be held in the Perryville Elementary School gymnasium. Admission to the craft fair is $1 at the door. All proceeds benefit the PES School Improvement Fund.
The craft fair features jewelry, chocolates, frames, antiques, purses and totes, candles, natural beauty products, bird houses, headbands and bows, handmade cards and products like Tastefully Simple and Pampered Chef. The Pirate Pride School Spirit Store will be on site with school-logo T-shirts, caps and jewelry along with fun spirit items like foam fingers and Pirate necklaces. Also featured are Girl Scout Cookies, concessions, a bake sale, a used book sale and activities for children.
"We have a wonderful group of parent volunteers who come together to help us raise money for the school with this event," Streiler said. "We hope that everyone in the community will join us for a great day of shopping and supporting your school." For more information about the craft fair contact Perryville Elementary School at 573-547-7500, ext. 8380.
Assistant Principal Mike Wortmann invites anyone with vehicles of interest to join the PES Car Show.
"We're going to have a great variety of cars, trucks and equipment for families to see," he said. "Perryville Police, Perry County Sheriff, Perryville Fire and Perry County Memorial Ambulance Service will bring their vehicles and the kids can sit in them. Air Evac plans to land its helicopter for viewing, and lots of people are bringing cool old cars, motorcycles and trucks, too."
PES students who attend the car show get to vote for their three favorite vehicles, and the top three entries receive trophies created by students. "Each student receives three tokens, and each vehicle has a voting can. Students drop a token in the can at each of their three favorite vehicles, and those with the most tokens are our winners."
If you'd like to display your vehicle in the car show, call Wortmann at 547-7500, Ext. 8228.
"The craft fair and car show are great family fun," Wortmann said. "It's an incredibly enjoyable event. You can walk around and look at cool cars, shop at the craft fair, grab a bite to eat and even get your face painted. The best part is that you're helping the children of the community. We hope to see you there on May 15."
