On Saturday, October 17th, the Perryville High School Marching Buccaneers, under the direction of Jay Peters and Eric Seibel, competed in a marching competition hosted by the Central R-III Rebels in Park Hills, Missouri. In the preliminary round, the Buccaneers placed 1st in the 3A division and won trophies for "Outstanding Auxiliary" and "Outstanding Music." By winning first place in their division, the Buccaneers were invited to compete a second time in the finals round against the top schools in the competition, including several 4A, 5A, and 6A bands. After the finals round, they placed 11th overall.
On Saturday, October 24th, the Marching Buccaneers finished their competitive season in the Ste. Genevieve Marching Festival. Despite having 18 students missing because of the flu, Perryville still managed to place 4th in their class.
The 4th place trophy from Ste. Genevieve gave the 2009-2010 Marching Buccaneers a total of 14 trophies. Congratulations on a great season!
