Today is Professional Development Day at Cape Public Schools! Classes were not in session while faculty attended a variety of seminars and workshops across the District. These seminars highlighted new research and techniques of relevance to educators so that our teachers continue to develop and keep growing in their jobs. Learning new information and techniques benefits all professions and results in practical improvements. Annual professional development is a Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education requirement. "If student apathy is our biggest problem, why do we treat it with a band aid? Our philosophy is to blow it up and drive it out of our schools, never allowing it to return," Hill said. ICU, a system for keeping parents and students informed of class assignments and incomplete assignments through electronic messaging, is in the initial stages of implementation at Central Middle School.
