Founder of DUB Magazine Visits New Madrid Bend Youth Center

Myles Kovacs, co-founder of DUB magazine, visited New Madrid Bend Youth Center last Friday. At age 37, Myles is a leading voice of the influential, trend-setting youth segment. He connects with young consumers though America's influencers -- entertainers, media, hot- product designers and mainstream corporations.

Myles was born in a tough neighborhood in East Los Angeles and at the age of 16 laid the groundwork for his distinctive publishing, music and automotive enterprise. He had a very humble start working in a rim shop and at age 18 became a custom wheel designer and began promoting nightclubs.

Myles has propelled DUB publishing, Inc. and its family of companies into an annual $50 million plus business. He has partnered with such organizations as Best Buy, Chrysler LLC, Energizer, General Motors, Mattel, Microsoft, Mobil 1, NASCAR, Pepsi, Proctor and Gamble and Wal-Mart, targeting the youth market and the "urban mindset" young adult culture, to build buzz through celebrity affiliations. Pepsi found his business sense so compelling that it partnered with him the Pepsi Free Ride promotion.

Newsweek named Myles one of the nation's "10 Big Thinkers for Big Business in the 21st Century. He's been featured as one of Entrepreneur Magazine's Top 25 Young Millionaires and The New York Times said. "When DUB talks, Detroit listens."

In 2008 Myles and his wife Cynthia, were featured on Fox TV's philanthropic reality show "Secret Millionaire". The couple spent time in the Watts district of LA and donated time and money to several local charities. The episode was Secret Millionaires highest-rated. It was called the "Surprise of the Night" attracting 7.18 million viewers.

Myles has a passion for his community and he devotes considerable time to charitable organizations. Myles was going to be in Memphis for the Annual DUB Show Tour, when he was asked by Jade Rohlfing, a staff at New Madrid Bend Youth to come and speak with the youth. He jumped at the chance to give back and speak to the youth about overcoming diversities and making your dreams come true and flew in from LA the night before the show and drove to New Madrid. Myles talked about how hard work and dedication can pay off. He shared some personal stories which have made him the person he is today. After lots of questions from the youth Myles stayed around and had his picture made with each of the youth. "This is an experience they will never forget," said Rohlfing. "He was so down to earth and the youth really enjoyed him sharing stories about all the celebrities he has worked with." To show their appreciation the youth presented Myles with a NMBYC shirt and a banner for him to hang at the show.
