The Oak Ridge United Methodist Church presented the Oak Ridge R-VI Schools Foundation a check for $52,870.42. Due to the economy and small membership, it became necessary to sell the church and its contents. The remaining congregation voted to give the proceeds to the community in the form of scholarship funds to the Oak Ridge Schools Foundation. Ilean Clippard, a 65 year member of the church, is the oldest member at age 91. Shirley Grebe, Goldie Hobeck, and Mary Mason graduated from the Oak Ridge School District.

The Oak Ridge United Methodist Church wishes to thank New Salem United Methodist Church in Daisy, Millersville Methodist Church, and the First Baptist Church in Oak Ridge who assisted them in preparing for the sale.
