Tamms- Egyptian High School was honored to host an Operation Teen Safe Driving (OTSD) program. This initiative is designed to help educate teens about the importance of safe and responsible driving. The event is sponsored by Ford Driving Motor Skills for Life, Allstate, I.D.O.T., and of course, OTSD.

Our sponsors donated $2,000 to EHS for promotional items for Safe Driving Week. The week of February 11th-February 15th was designated as our schools' time to inspire our student body to prevent injuries and even deaths as results of car accidents. OTSD is a community, all-ages movement; however, we specifically target our upper grades.

This year's slogan was, "Be Protected-NOT Projected". We had students, parents, faculty, and community members sign a pledge to wear their seatbelts and complete the Ford Driving Skills Survey. We also had "Green Shirt Day" (green being the color of safe driving awareness) and a school-wide assembly. Thursday brought "The Lost Day" where 18 students wore theatrical make-up illustrating effects of a car accident. The victims also wore a badge describing their car accident and the cause.

February 15th, during our high school boys' basketball game, we had a booth set up to inform spectators about this cause and to provide information about safe driving.

The efforts made by Egyptian Student Council to promote safe driving were very successful. The goal of reaching out to not only students, but community as well, was achieved and the club is very proud of the impact made on everyone.
