The Cole family shares many aviation family traditions as part of aviation history dating back to 1940 when Colby and Corbin's grandfather, Truman R. Cole, Jr., (formerly of Cape Girardeau, MO) started taking flying lessons, and now, two Aviation World Records.

Official recognition of the flight is pending before the National Aeronautic Association and Federation Aeronautique Internationale.
