Aaron Arnzen, a sophomore business administration major from Cape Girardeau, Mo., was bestowed the annual Spirit of Avila award from Avila University in Kansas City in a ceremony coinciding with the university's graduation ceremonies May 11.

The Spirit of Avila award is bestowed annually to an Avila student who goes above and beyond the call in positively exemplifying the spirit of Avila in service to the community and is in good academic and disciplinary standing with the university. The award was established in the spring of 2001.

Arnzen, who also competes as a midfielder on the Eagles' men's soccer team, received a certificate and gift as the Spirit of Avila award winner. He attended Notre Dame Regional High School in Cape Girardeau.
