The Goldwing Road Riders Association (GWRRA), Chapter I of Jackson, Missouri will host a free coffee break at the I-55 rest stops between Oak Ridge and Fruitland this Memorial Day weekend. On Saturday, chapter members will be out in force at the southbound I-55 rest stop beginning at 6:00 a.m. to greet holiday travelers coming out of the St. Louis metro area with a hot cup of coffee, cool cup of lemonade and cookies. On Monday, chapter members will be at the northbound I-55 rest stop beginning at 8:00 a.m. as travelers head home.

This annual event has been sponsored by this group of motorcyclists for twelve consecutive years. They have been at the rest stops so consistently, that some regular travelers remember them from year to year. The coffee break is an opportunity for the motorcyclists to visually promote the fact that people driving the highways and byways of America need to be aware that motorcycles are everywhere. It is also an opportunity for drivers, friends and family to take a break with a free, rejuvenating cup of coffee or lemonade so that they can continue their trip safely and more refreshed.

Chapter members not only serve up joe, juice and cookies, they take the time to talk with travelers and help with travel tips and directions. If interest is shown, they are happy to show off their motorcycles that are parked in the vicinity for travelers to look at and enjoy.

The month of May is Motorcycle Awareness Month so this year as a public service in their continuing efforts to promote goodwill and awareness, the chapter members will offer to clean windshields on vehicles that come into the rest stop.

If you don't have holiday travel plans this year, want to see some colorful, powerful tour bikes and meet some interesting, well traveled riders, then come out to the I-55 rest stops this weekend and as their slogan says "Start Seeing Motorcycles".
