On Friday, September 24 the Life of Jesus Organization will host a music showcase at the Dockside in downtown Cape to raise awareness.

The event will feature a variety of local musical entertainment, including Dr. Sara Edgerton, from the Southeast University Music Department. She will be playing her cello along with student cello player, Jennifer Samuels. Additional entertainment will come from the vocal stylings of Angie Kapp, Julie Walker, Ryan Corn and Keesha Diaz.

The event will also include free hors d'oeuvres, door prizes and a silent auction. Doors open at 5 p.m. and there is a $5 entry fee. The event is being sponsored in part by Global Cafe, Slumberland, Herbalife and Food Town in Olive Branch, Il.

The Life of Jesus Organization is a Christian, non-denominational and non-profit organization committed to helping improve the human condition, enhance and promote human dignity from conception to natural death. The group works to collect and distribute used medical equipment for those less fortunate in our community. Medical supplies and equipment not given out in this area is boxed up and shipped to Nigeria and other communities in Africa.

The organization counts on donations and what is sold at the Religious and Catholic Supply Store at 14 N. Sprigg Street in Cape. They accept donations of equipment, volunteer time and financial gifts.

Board member Kim Mitchell says, "It is sometimes difficult to bring in the amount of money necessary to really do the job we feel God has put on our hearts. We want to be the hands and feet of Jesus for all those who need medical equipment yet can't afford it. We want people to come Friday night to experience the talent and entertainment and taste the great food from Global Cafe, but we also want to shine the light of Jesus and let the people in this community know what this medical mission is all about. We feel we have a unique way of reaching and helping those in need. This is a special organization."

For more information, contact Dorothy Anderson at The Life of Jesus Organization store at 14 N. Sprigg or call Kim Mitchell at 573-382-1247

Event Cost is a $5 Love Offering. There will also be a silent auction.
