A group of people from the Cape Girardeau and surrounding area met at the Cemetary of the Innocents facing Hwy 55 to participate in the National Lifechain Sunday afternoon. Among them were Lutherans, Catholics, Methodists, and members of the local tea party.

The purpose of this event is not a demonstration, but an act of standing up for the innocent children who have lost their lives as well as the women and men who have often suffered depression and other serious disorders for a lifetime after having an abortion. The signs they held included such statements as "Abortion hurts women", "Life, the first inalienable right", Adoption, the loving choice.

According to several dependable sources their have been over 54 million abortions in the US since Roe vs Wade in 1973.
