Best selling author Donnie Kennedy (The South was Right) was the keynote speaker at the 2012 Colonel John T. Coffee Camp , Sons of Confederate Veterans Heritage Dinner, held on April 21, 2012, in the historic community of Osceola, Missouri.

Mr. Kennedy spoke to a crowd of 120 paid attendees who frequently interrupted him with applause and standing ovations.

Prior to the dinner a crowd of 50 opted to enjoy the Heritage Tour which took visitors throughout the Osceola, Missour area which included the site of the 1874 gun battle between members of the Younger Gang and Pinkerton agents, as well as the Missouri Brigade Monument which overlooks the juncture of the Sac and Osage Rivers, the Monument to the Citizens of Osceola who died during Jim Lane's September , 1861 raid on the once prosperous city, and the Cole Younger Cave.
