What makes you the most qualified candidate for this position?

I feel like what makes me most qualified is my ability to listen. I feel like I'm easy to talk to, a good communicator, someone willing to work hard, and empathetic towards others. I don't necessarily know if that makes me the most qualified, but I feel like those are some of my characteristics. Hopefully, those are traits people are looking for in a candidate.

What do you see as the opportunities and challenges in the district?

We are a district that has very strong leadership. We have administrators, teachers, coaches, faculty and staff that care deeply about our students. We offer many different sports programs, clubs, and other opportunities for our kids to learn and grow. Our school system is filled with people that care and want to see our students be great. The challenges are giving our staff everything needed to see that this continues to be our norm.

How will you communicate your work to your constituents?

The best way to communicate is to be available. You have to be approachable, honest and sincere. You may not agree on everything, but they have to know that when situations arise, someone is going to listen to them. Everyone wants the best for their child. Sometimes, we may disagree on the process, so you have to be willing to take criticism, admit when you're wrong and be willing to change.

What are the factors on which you will base your decisions as a school board member?

I feel like in a position like school board member, you can't be in it just for your own child. You have to be mindful that our own children are nothing more than a drop in the bucket. We have to make the best decision for not only our current students, but also be alert to how our decisions will affect students and families in the future.
