Jackson R-2 School District Honors Veterans
(Jackson, MO) The Jackson Choral Department, along with Student Council and many faculty and staff honored Veterans in the annual Veterans Day ceremony. Held at the Jackson R-2 High School Auditorium, under the theme: Valor, Courage and Sacrifice, Veterans from each branch of the military were honored through a variety of music, Taps, and a video tribute called "A Soldier's Pledge."
The ceremony involved many community members and Veterans in order to pay tribute for their service to their country in both wartime and peace. Local Veterans and choir members joined together to present a reading titled "Memoirs of a Vet." The winning speech from the VFW Voice of Democracy contest, written by JHS student Amanda Krewson was read for the packed auditorium. The American Legion Honor Guard posted and retired the Colors for the ceremony.
Many local dignitaries attended to honor local veterans including, Congressman Jason Smith, Representative Donna Lichtenegger, Senator Wayne Wallingford and Mayor Barbara Lohr. All present were served breakfast by JHS Choir and Student Council members after the ceremony.
