Jackson Middle School has started an Afterschool 4-H Club. The club meets every Monday from 3:15 until 5:00 pm at the Middle School. The first Monday of every month is the club business meeting and the remaining Mondays are for project members. The first 3 meetings were centered around teamwork, learning parliamentary procedures and electing officers. Members voted to name the club "Making the Best Better Club". Current enrollment is 16 students and current projects are photography and Microwave Magic, which are lead by adult volunteer leaders. At the beginning of enrollment, 8 projects were presented to the students and they had a choice of choosing the ones they were most interested in. The projects will last for 6-8 week rotations and then the students have the choice of moving on to the next project. Each member paid a minimal fee for 4-H enrollment and are eligible to participate in any county, regional or state event for the 2008-2009 year. For more information about joining the Club, call the Extension Office at 243-3581.
