Local bicyclist, Matt Smith of Jackson, recently competed in the Cedar Cross endurance bicycle race which was held May 4th in Jefferson City. The Cedar Cross is a one day 113 mile endurance race on gravel roads and US Forest Service trails. The race started in Jefferson City and went to Fulton and back to Jefferson City. The race was was extremely difficult due to the 3 inches of rain that fell the day before. The participants battled muddy roads, multiple stream crossings, angry dogs, muddy horse trails and cold weather. Smith finished the gravel grinder in 10 hours 2 minutes.
