Mollie Metzger (8th grade) was the only girl wrestler on the Jackson Junior High Wrestling team for 2021. She had no idea that she would be the only girl wrestling, as her older sisters Gracie & Mallorie wrestle on the Jackson High School Wrestling girl team. Mollie went out for wrestling because her sisters encouraged her that this sport is unique that provides rewards with hard work & dedication.
Mollie also had no idea that her 1st year of wrestling she would be undefeated. Her record of 20-0, 18 pin/falls & 2 Decision- giving up 9 points totality in all bouts for the season. Since the junior high team doesn't have a dedicated girl wrestling team, Mollie had to wrestle both girls & boys at tournaments. Since she trained with boys on her team, this didn't stop her from thinking she wouldn't be a success.
Mollie would like to encourage other girls to adventure into the sport of wrestling. This opportunity has created an environment of positive self-confidence, competitive spirt and skill development. It creates the combination of teamwork and independence for working hard to achieve your goals.
Congratulation to a great season to Mollie Metzger.
