PERRYVILLE, Mo - Aug. 16 Rough Road Rescue held a microchipping event at Buchheits' 80th anniversary celebration at the Perryville location. Community members were invited to bring their pets to be microchipped for a small donations of $25.00. All microchips were preregistered for no additional cost.
Steve Svehla, one of the rescue's founders, was on hand to perform the actual microchipping while volunteers helped to handle dogs and talk with supporters that stopped by the booth. 14 dogs were microchipped during the event.
Linda Svehla, the rescue's co-founder, says she was very pleased with the reception they received at the first time event for the rescue. "It was a good day," said Svehla. "The support from the community and the staff of Buchheits was outstanding. We were happy to provide such a safety measure for pets in our community."
Many people who stopped by the rescue's booth expressed an interest in having their own pets microchipped but were unable to bring their pets with them that day.
The Svehla's say not to worry; Rough Road Rescue would be hosting future microchipping events and would be making the announcement as to when and where a future event would take place as soon as the details could be worked out on a location.
