Geraldine Barks celebrates 100th Birthday

Long-time Marble Hill resident Geraldine Barks celebrated her 100th birthday on September 12, 2018, at her residence of the past year,The Villas of Jackson. Highlights of the day included an interview by KFVS, a leisurely ride in a 1930 Ford coupe and being stopped by a Jackson police officer for traveling too fast, and a ride with Jackson firefighters in their ladder truck with horns blasting and lights flashing.

Barks celebrated the day with 3 sisters: Maxine Goehring (95) of Cape Girardeau, Mildred Felker (90) of Chaffee, and Margie Gaines (81) of East Alton, Illinois. Barks was born Geraldine Bollinger of Stoddard County in 1918.

Her home church, Hahn Chapel of Marble Hill, honored her on September 2 during the morning service. She was presented a Resolution from the MO House of Representative, compliments of Representative Rick Francis, commemorating her longevity and accomplishments. A celebration meal with birthday cake and many birthday cards completed the event.
