Cape Girardeau, MO--As the St. Louis Cardinals compete in the 2011 World Series, most local sports fans know just how long it takes to drive from Cape to St. Louis. But, what if you had to swim there?

Members of the Gators Swim Team, Southeast Missouri's longest running swim program, will find out Friday, October 28 2011 when team members swim the 120 miles it takes to get from the Cape Central Municipal Pool in Cape Girardeau to the St. Louis Arch.

Swimmers will be divided into two teams and will rotate in and out of the water from 4:00pm until midnight, showing the team support and dedication that makes the Gator Swim Team such a success. The two teams will also enjoy some friendly competition to see which group collects the most donations and which has the best time to the Arch.

Generous donations provided by family and friends will help the team purchase much-needed new equipment, including starting blocks and lane lines. Donations will also help fund Gator swim scholarships for families in need.
