The water was just right as we shoved off in our canoe. The sky was partly cloudy giving us relief from the heat and the water was nice and cool. We started catching fish right off the bat with me landing a large mouth bass over 22" long. Wish we would have had a scale. R.J. was up tight for about an hour before he caught the second largest fish of the day, a brown bass over 20". We had a great trip. All day long for nine hours we tore them up. Everything from 3" sunfish to a beautiful 3 Ft. long-nosed gar, which gave me the best fight of the day. I thought it was a huge catfish at first.

R.J. and I had to portage only about four times. Thank goodness none of them were over 30 yards or so. I must add that we had to step out and float the canoe thru shallow water a lot. I guess that helped us from getting hot or stiff from sitting to long. Brought home 8 fish but, were disappointed to find three were full of those white parasitic grubs. They can say they are harmless all they want. R.J. and I decided we would pass on the extra protein. Can't wait to go again and encourage everyone to go as well. There is nothing that make you smile like a fishy tugging on your line.

Happy Fishing.
