The U.S. Department of Defense agency, Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), will host an appreciation luncheon to honor Cape Girardeau area businesses and organizations that employ National Guard and Reserve personnel. This special event, referred by ESGR as "Lunch With the Boss", will be held at 11 AM, September 22, at the Drury Lodge in Cape. Among thwe guest speakers at this luncheon will be the Chair of Missouri ESGR, Brigadier General Tracy Beckette, (Ret), and Cape Girardeau's own son, recently retired from the position of Missouri State National Guard Command Sergeant Major, Matthew Jenkins. Each of these highly decorated speakers have more than 30 years of active and inactive military.
Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a national organization of patriotic volunteers that works directly with the U.S Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of Labor to develop and promote a culture in which all American employers support and value the military service of their employees. It strives to gain and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service by recognizing outstanding employer support, increasing awareness of the law, and resolving emloyment conflicts through cost-free mediation.
The Missouri ESGR has a membership of approximately fifty (50)dedicated active and retired professional men and women, and is always looking for other special patriotic persons to help in its mission.
