Egyptian High School in Tamms, IL hosted its 3rd annual Operation Teen Safe Driving Week the week of February 24th through the 28th. The theme of the week was "Be Alert, Accidents Hurt." During this week students participated in activities designed to emphasize the importance of responsible driving. There were powerful demonstrations such as a mock crash scene featuring two high school students. There were also lighthearted activities such as driving golf carts with impaired vision goggles and texting simulators to highlight the dangers of driving impaired. Other events of the week included a flag raising ceremony and fun giveaways at a high school basketball game. The Safe Driving week also involved Egyptian Junior High students as well as local area churches and clubs.
