The C.W. Rushing Charitable Trust has presented $1,000 to the SoutheastHEALTH Foundation to benefit Southeast’s Reach Out & Read program and its Share program.
“The Rushing family have supported the SoutheastHEALTH Foundation since the Foundation’s inception in 1977,” said Patti Ranzini, executive director of the Foundation. “They are valued members of the SoutheastHEALTH family. It is only with the support of donors like the Rushing family that we can continue these important programs.”
Reach Out & Read is a national program facilitated locally by Southeast Pediatrics. New, fun to read and educational books are given to parents during well-child check-ups beginning at the age of six months and continuing through until the child’s fifth year. Statistics show that children served by Reach Out & Read score three to six months ahead of their peers on vocabulary tests.
The Share program lends support, comfort and counseling to families who suffer the loss of a child through miscarriage, neonatal death or stillbirth. Share provides programming for parents who have suffered this kind of loss comfort and mutual support from others who have gone through the experience of losing a child.
