During the month of October, the Oran Lady Eagles volleyball team collected a total of $130.00 for Breast Cancer Awareness. With the help of the American Cancer Society of Cape Girardeau and Brenda Freed from the Scott County Health Department the Lady Eagles were able to have a breast cancer information table set up at all home games during the month of October. The table consisted of self check lists, pocket calendars, tote bags, breast cancer bracelets, pink ribbon pins, and pink hats. The main focus of the Breast Cancer Awareness table was the black donation box that was adorned with pink ribbons and bows and the matching bulletin board in the high school lobby. By making a monetary donation to the American Cancer Society, individuals were able to put their name or family's name on a volleyball that was placed on the "Diggin' For A Cure" bulletin board. A $1.00 donation got your name on a white volleyball, a $2.00 donation got your name on a light pink volleyball, and a $5.00 donation got your name on a hot pink volleyball. At the end of the month there were a total of 51 volleyballs on the bulletin board; 16 hot pink, 15 light pink, and 20 white which all totaled $130.00. The Lady Eagles would like to thank everyone that donated their time and money for this worthy cause.
