On Saturday, February 4, 2017 the Delta Bobcats participated in the Polar Bear Plunge to benefit Missouri Special Olympics for the 9th year in a row. We were represented by 33 plungers and thanks to the amazing work by those plungers and an incredibly supportive community we were able to set a Delta record and with the award for being the top fundraising group with a grand total of $5239. Of note, Senior Lydia Borneman and 7th grader Kendall Holweg both raised over $500 demonstrating great heart and a desire to help a deserving charity. We would like to thank Cape Girardeau Dental Group and Dr. David Kaelin, O'Charley's, B.G.'s Deli, Bent Creek Golf Club, Wherenberg Theatres, Buffalo Wild Wings and Dr. Melissa Heath for providing items we raffled off to raise money for this great cause. Our costumes for this years' plunge honored and gave thanks to American heroes, including military, police, firefighters, doctors, nurses and farmers. For our costumes we also received the Bronze Plunger award. We look forward to plunging again next year and seeing all of our friends in Special Olympics.
