The Struggling Economy is Affecting Women in Unplanned Pregnancies

Vitae (Vee-tay) Foundation is hosting their Pro-Life Benefit Dinner at Cape Girardeau June 9th with Col. Jack Jackson coming as the guest speaker. The benefit raises money to help reach out to women facing unplanned pregnancies and connect them with local resources.

Col. Jackson will speak on behalf of Vitae, an organization that is working to build a culture of life and to save the lives of the unborn. "I have heard the last words of dying men both testing airplanes and as a combat aviator and there is no doubt that life is precious. Protecting the unborn who have no defense should be for all of us, one of our highest priorities. Vitae gives that priority real meaning." said Jackson.

During these troubled economic times, more women are choosing to have abortions. According to the Associated Press, "Some experts believe such concerns over the recession may have an affect on the overall U.S. birth rate, possibly reversing the trend that resulted in a recent government report that a record number of babies were born in the U.S. in 2007. Abortions at Planned Parenthood's St. Louis-area clinics were up nearly 7% in the second half of 2008 from a year earlier -- ending a stretch in which the numbers were dwindling."

Vitae knows that this is a critical time in their efforts to reduce the number of abortions, "We have to get our messages of hope out to more women than we have ever reached before," stated Carl Landwehr, President of Vitae Foundation. "We have to let these women know that they do have options." A key tool that Vitae will be utilizing is their newest website, www.YourOptions.com. This website is a place for women to learn about their options and to see what other women have done.

Currently Vitae is promoting YourOptions.com in Los Angeles and Dallas on MySpace, Facebook, and through Google keyword advertising. In just a little over 11 weeks, these campaigns contributed to over 11,900 women clicking on our ad and visiting the website. Vitae plans to launch a similar campaign in Missouri following this event.

The dinner and program are from 6:30 - 8:30 PM at the Cape Girardeau Country Club on June 9th. Reservations will be accepted by calling 800-393-5791 with a registration fee of $25 per person. ($12 is tax-deductible) Seating is limited, so make your reservations soon. The event is expected to sellout. Please visit our website www.vitaecaringfoundation.org for additional information.
