Cape Central High School art students won seven of the ten awards presented at the recent 27th Annual Eighth Congressional District High School Art Competition, including the Grand Prize, won by CHS Junior Courtney Limbaugh. In the photo, Courtney poses with her parents, Lisa and David Limbaugh, during an awards reception at the Arts Council gallery in downtown Cape Girardeau. Her winning art work, "Joy," is at top left. As Grand Prize Winner, Courtney is entitled to two tickets to Washington, D.C., to compete with high school artists from each state and congressional district. The winner of that show will receive a scholarship to Savannah College of Art and Design. Other award-winning CHS artists are, Bethany Morris, Sydney Messerli, Billy Leighton, Emily Stephen, Josephine Young (students of Art Teacher Elizabeth Thomas) and Elizabeth Green (student of Art Teacher Carlynn Forst).
